Tournament update and rules

All right! We now have 18 teams registered, 9 in A division, 9 in B division. We will close registration at 5 PM. I wanted to let you guys see the rules before tomorrow, so I’ve included our modified rule set below. See you tomorrow on the sand at Reveille Ranch!

Aggie Sand / BCS Sand Doubles Tournament Rules

We will be following a modified USAV/AVP beach volleyball rule set, below. To make the tournament simpler, we have clarified and modified some original rules, since we won’t have referees.

All games will be played on a USAV/FIVB regulation doubles sand court, 8m x 16m.

All matches will be rally score to 21 points, must win by two in the tournament, seeding play will be first to 21.

NO open handed tips, dunks or dinks will be allowed.

ANY net contact will be considered a violation, point going to the other team.

Sets should be clean, with little rotation. A clearly spinning ball from the set will be considered dead. More rotation will be allowed in the B Division.

NO sets or pushes over the net will be allowed, no matter what angle.

The ball cannot be received with open hands, period, no matter how much/little spin. An open-handed receive will be considered dead, except in B Division.

A block will count as a team hit (1 of 3) in A Division.

If you have any questions, please ask Michael for clarification BEFORE the start of your match.

Check in time is 9 AM; play will start promptly at 9:30. If you are not on the sand and ready to play within 5 minutes of the scheduled beginning of a match, your unready or absent team will automatically forfeit the match with a score of zero.

Ladies and gentlemen, I am excited to bring you more details about the first doubles sand tournament in College Station, at Reveille Ranch July 20th! Registration is open now, via the link below.

2 Divisions (A and B) – A is highly competitive, B is more intermediate/recreational. NO SANDBAGGING (intentionally playing below your level just to win).

BOTH divisions will offer cash prizes, higher prizes in Division A.

$40 per team (must be paid in cash day of tournament)

Check-in opens at 9 AM, play starts promptly at 9:30. If you are late, you will forfeit your first match.

This tournament will be double elimination in both divisions, with seeding play in the morning.

We look forward to seeing you there! Please register online via the link below, and share with your friends!

NOTE: this is a doubles tournament. However, we have decided to allow all-female teams of high school girls the option to have 3 players instead of just 2.
